Turn of the Century Illustrators

In the early Twentieth Century, most fashion houses started hiring illustrators to sketch designs for their customers since it was more economical and efficient to show a client a sketch then to construct a sample of what the garment would look like. During this time, fashion magazines became very popular and these sketches would often times be published in magazines such as “La Gazette du bon ton” to promote fashion houses or new fashion styles.
